Bud Johnson, of the ParentsSharing Yahoo Group has spearheaded an effort to change laws that now allow, even encourage children's protective agencies nationwide to remove children from their homes without proper authority or just cause. Read the heartbreaking stories at http://homepages.about.com/amendment/familyprotectionconstitutionalamendment/index.html  and sign the petition!  A pre-written letter to Senator Rockefeller is at

TO ALL WEB GROUPS WORLDWIDE IN OUR FIGHT AGAINST THE REMOVAL OF ONE PARENT BY THE LAWS OF THE COUNTRIES YOU LIVE IN.
On September 20th 2001 the UK is hosting, in Bath, The World Congress on Family Law and the Rights of Children and Youth, this brings together lawyers, judges, health care professionals, politicians, community and government representatives, human rights advocates and representatives from the private and business sectors.
There are also the policy makers from the UN, EEC, & many countries we have them all under one roof. President of EPC UK Tony Coe will be a delegate at the conference; Mark Harris will be outside as EPC protest coordinator. This is a worldwide petition for all groups with the same broad aim as the Equal Parenting Council. You can register your membership of alternative organisations if you so desire these will be represented in the final petition.
So come on all you groups, guys & gals lets make this a united front give these two guys our support give them the ammunition to fight this, don't sit back in your sofas & watch TV hoping things will change they won't we have to fight.
The more voices & names, the more we will be noticed & taken seriously by delegates & press, the least well no need to answer that, a golden opportunity gone to waste. If you wish to register your voice and protest at the abuse our children and we are subjected to then please fill out and submit the petition form.
This is our chance to make an impact; lets make the most of it. Get yourself to Bath in the UK if you can. If you're in the UK there is no excuse, get babysitters, borrow train fares, put aside politics. Just be there. Bring purple flags and balloons!

NOW'S RESOLUTION ON FAMILY LAW
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Heads-up from Don Hubin

"Just Passed at National NOW Conference! Action on Family Law" (ref.
http://www.canow.org/TakeAction/familylaw_text.html)

Fwd/fyi (as excerpted):
Source: http://www.canow.org/TakeAction/familylawaction_text.html

ACTION ON FAMILY LAW

Whereas, the National Organization for Women (NOW) is committed to justice
for women and children; and
Whereas, there is a well-organized father rights moment that is negatively effecting [sic] the judicial and legislative process regarding family law; and
Whereas, across the nation the majority of calls to chapters are regarding divorce and custody issues; and
Whereas, women are reporting gender bias, denial of due process, incompetence, corruption and fraud in the family law and domestic courts; and
Whereas, restrictive laws and court orders that force women into  mandatory mediation, whereby the mediator's decree becomes the order of the court contrary to the wishes of the parties with no recourse to judicial  review, deprives women of their due process rights; and
Whereas, women are being deprived of economic fairness by the failure of courts to enforce financial discovery; and
Whereas, since it is the best interest of children to ensure their stability and continuity of care, there should be a rebuttable presumption that the primary care giver of the children should be awarded custody.
Therefore be it resolved, that NOW place increased emphasis on this national family law crisis; and
Be it further resolved, that NOW create an activist organizing kit to include a questionnaire to capture evidence from women's court experiences and a grass roots court watch program; and
Be it finally resolved, that NOW release the results of the questionnaire and the court watch program at a National speak out where women give testimony regarding their experience in the courts with divorce, spousal support, property division, child support, child custody, family violence and abuse

CLAYTON GILES
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
You all are aware of the campaign a young man named Clayton Giles is waging
to bring attention to the right and need for children to have true, shared
custody arrangements exist between their parents when divorce occurs. He has
been traveling by bike (and RV) from Canada down through NY, PA etc. toward
Washington DC. He and his father are in Philadelphia and experiencing severe
financial problems. I want to encourage everyone to go to the website
hypertexted below and make some kind of contribution. I just donated $100.00.

Thanks, Dave Burroughs

ManKind Conference 2001
LONDON(Euston)
Saturday 15th September
And AH hopes to see many of his readers there!
Last year's conference was fantastic, in every way - relaxed, warm, good-spirited, and TOTALLY ABSORBING. And, just like last year, the topics being covered this year range well beyond the typical anti-feminist rantings found in most men's groups gatherings. (And, what would be the point? You can read about all that kind of stuff here at Angry Harry!) This year's main theme is Suppression - not solely with regard to men's issues, but as it is found in many areas where people do not toe the line set by the 'establishment'.
It promises to be a real eye-opener. So, whether you're a member of MANKIND, or the UKMM - OR NOT - come along and have a jolly good day out listening to some of the people who are actively involved in changing and opening up our society for the better.
You won't hear them speak openly like this anywhere else.
