GENDER FEMINISM AND THE VOICES NOT HEARD

You may have already heard about the forum discussion sponsored by NCFM in St. Paul MN June 21. Wendy McElroy will be the main speaker, presenting her talk entitled, "Gender Feminism and the Voices Not Heard  Has America Gone Deaf in One Ear?"

Also part of the program is Warren Farrell, author of several male-positive works including " The Myth of Male Power" and "Women Can't Hear What Men Don't Say"

Yours truly will also be on the program. If you're local and plan to attend, I'd suggest getting there early. It's a small room they've engaged, and we're jammin' PR whenever and wherever we can, so it promises to be a seriously well-attended event! SRO for sure.

As we go to press, we don't have the specifics, but we know there will be a demo by NCFM earlier in the day in downtown St. Paul. Look for me thereI'm the short pudgy lady with the red hair.

The MensHour radio program will be covering the event from start to finish. Raymond Cuttill is coming from England to make sure those who can't be there can hear the goings-on.

If you can't be there, send me a note by e-mail. I'll let everybody know about the men who have been abused by the system, or just are concerned about the world their boys will find when they grow up and want to be family men themselves. I'll print out all your e-mails and carry them with me!

Of course donations wouldn't hurt. I've never asked for cash before, but in this case we are extending ourselves far beyond the possible. Activists tend not to be wealthy people! This is the most important event of the year, and every single dollar, pound, yen, lire, franc, peso or mark we are able to collect will help make this event THE turning point in the history of the men's movement.

So send whatever you've got to:

SO LONG TO A DEAR FRIEND

Jim Bailey, the guiding light of the men's movement in New Zealand has announced he will be withdrawing from activism in order to better care for his son and mother. Some of you may be aware he recently lost his father. Even in 'retirement,' Jim Bailey is a wonderful example of the finest men of the movement. We've been proud to be associated with him, and his quirky e-mails and dogged spirit will be sorely missed. Vaya con Dios, JimBWarrior!  May your future battles be small ones, and your way cloudless.

SPENCE ON TV

Hi folks

I've just been on Ulster TV. It has a mean audience of about 400,000
viewers, at time of showing.

I got out the fact about how women commit domestic violence as often as men.
And also how the studies proving this have been conducted on 77.000 people.
I also plugged LBD's. (Live Beat Dads UK)

I want to give my sincere thanks to AMEN from the Republic of Ireland and
all the guys and dolls associated with it, Sean Kelly, Liam O'Gogain, and
Mary Cleary. Who were there giving their input and who gave me emotional
strength. They're the real people who furthered the movement tonight! Not
forgetting the other guys who were there, heroes they are!!!!!!!!

DEMO IN BERLIN

On June 8th, 2002, at 11:00 a.m. we will come together for the
International Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002 at the
Richard-Wagner-Platz in Berlin (Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf).

The slogan of the Demonstration is "To all children both parents"

The major demands are:

Presumption of 50:50 parenting if no agreement,
Sanctions if child access is denied,
Home for our children is where both parents lived.

At 12:00 a.m. we will move via Schustehrusstraße, Wilmersdorfer
Straße, Kantstraße, Leibnitzerstraße and Kurfürstendamm to
Breitscheidplatz. About 01:30 p.m. we will reach the Breitscheidplatz.
We have time for speakers until 05:00 p.m. . After that the
Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002 will be over. I will invite some
politicians for the speakers' hour at the Breitscheidplatz.

We are allowed to use megaphones, all other participants may take
whistles, bells, rattles and empty prams. We recommend that the main
slogan be used for signs and banners. If anyone has better ideas,
please send advice on what should be done.

Please keep in mind that you must follow the instructions of the
organizers. The official end of the Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002
will be announced by the organizers and is definite.

Please remember that we will meet again June 7th, 2003. Therefore we
should guarantee a trouble-free Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002.

All organizations supporting the same goal as that of Väteraufbruch
für Kinder e.V., i.e.: the right of our children to both parents, and
who will join the Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002, should use the
opportunity to send their logo, the name of their spokesman and phone
number to me, at  detlef.naumann@gmx.de. As long as there is room, we
will include the information on our flyer.

Please, send this invitation to all mailing lists, companies, colleges
and universities. In the next few days the mass-media will be informed
about the Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002. If you plan to come to
Berlin, send me a note for incorporation into news releases.
Immediately in advance of the Children-Rights-Demonstration 2002, I
will regularly inform the media of the latest news. Please send to me
information pertaining to your participants.

Looking forward to a sunny day, a warm welcome in Berlin, and a future
when our children will have both parents.

In dedication to my daughter.

FIRST IN THE NATION

The New Hampshire chapter of the National Congress for Fathers and
Children is proud to announce passage of HB587, the bill creating a first
in the nation COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF MEN.  The bill passed the
Senate, and was recently signed into law by Governor Jeanne Shaheen.  It
will become effective on July first, this year.

New Hampshire women have had such a commission, fully funded, for the
past thirty years, and supporters of HB587 believe it is only fair that
men be accorded the same privilege.  Feminists in New Hampshire,
including the Commission on the Status of Women, were adamantly opposed
to creation of a commission for men, feeling that it would detract from
all that the women's' commission had accomplished.  Their opposition was
sufficiently strong to sidetrack the men's commission for several years.
However, supporters impressed legislators with a litany of reasons why
men need a commission.  Among reasons given for wanting a commission for
men, was the higher rate of suicide for men and boys, the decline in
college enrollment for men, the discrimination against men in custody and
support,  higher mortality rates for men, and a greatly lessened outlay
for medical research on men's diseases.  Rates of incarceration for men
were also cited, and the fact that 80% of inmates of the state's juvenile
lockup came from fatherless homes.  School test scores indicate that boys
are falling behind, and many more are dropping out altogether.  The fight
for the bill last year resulted in a house subcommittee being formed to
study men's issues.  The committee heard testimony from citizens and
government officials, and ended their report by recommending immediate
passage of the bill to create this commission.  Now that it IS passed, it
only remains to see who is appointed to sit on the commission, how well
it will function, and how well it will be received by the legislature,
the governor, the courts, and the media.  A round of congratulations are
in order for all the people in New Hampshire who worked so hard to
accomplish this great achievement.

Paul Clements

FALSELY ACCUSED OF RAPE

I would just like to remind you of William Hetherington who was falsely
accused of raping his wife when he decided to go for custody and it
looked like he was going to succeed. Please send people to his web site
at: http://www.ncfm.org/wil.htm

There really isn't much anyone can do right now except to write Wil at
the prison and express support. Of course, if anyone has $100,000 he
could afford the system. Well, there is one more thing. I will ask that
people say prayers. Prayers help.

There are worse cases than Terence Moore to be sure, but I believe that
what is happening to him is common. This is not meant by me to dismiss
what happened to Mr. Moore. In fact, with this in mind we should all be
more fearful.

One thing I noticed was the link between Moore and Hetherington is the
way plea bargaining was conducted. Hetherington got 30 years after he
insisted on a trial. Until then the system was willing to let him WALK
if he would accept a felony on his record. WALK! NO JAIL! There is
something terribly wrong with this picture. Hetherington is no threat,
never was, and they know it.

choose to have only one parent.  The loss of a parent is bad enough, but
the child also loses the extended family of that parent too.  Grandparents,
aunts, uncles and cousins, all who could have a positive impact on that child.
The Inaugural Father's Day Picnic goal is to promote shared parenting,
regardless of whether the parents are still together, affording children the
benefit of a relationship with both parents."

ONE NIGHT ONLY!

DAVID BRENNER IN CONCERT
SATURDAY, JUNE 15, AT LISNER AUDITORIUM
* Tickets on Sale Now *

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- DAVID BRENNER, the ultimate
stand-up comedian, will perform in concert, for one night only,
Saturday, June 15, 2002, at The George Washington University's
Lisner Auditorium (21st & H Sts., N.W.).
The show will begin at 8 P.M.

Proceeds from this event will benefit the American Coalition for
Fathers and Children an organization dedicated to promoting
equal rights for divorced parents because it is the ACFC's belief
that a child needs both parents.

Brenner, who has appeared a record 158 times on "The Tonight
Show", returns to the nation's capital, to perform, for the first time
in many years.

Known for his razor-sharp comic instincts, Brenner's observations
and insight of popular culture have made him a fan-favorite for over
25 years.  Is it any wonder he is recognized in The Book of Lists #2
as the "Number One most frequent guest on television?"

Born and reared in the tough, poor sections of South and West
Philadelphia, Brenner used his humor to advance himself.  He was
elected class president in high school every year.  He graduated
from Temple University with honors.  After an extremely successful
career as an award-winning writer/director/producer of 115
documentary films, Brenner began performing stand-up comedy in
small clubs in New York.  Eighteen months later, he made his debut
on "The Tonight Show", the appearance that launched his career.

Brenner has authored four best-selling books, starred in a successful
one-man show on Broadway, and hosted "The David Brenner Show"
on the Westwood One Entertainment radio network.

Tickets to David Brenner's concert are on sale NOW and priced at
$25 and $35.  Tickets may be purchased at the Lisner Auditorium
box office, at any TicketMaster outlet, PhoneCharge, (202) 432-SEAT
