. This is the first bi-weekly e-zine intended to focus primarily on the issues of
domestic violence against men and divorce/child custody issues. We welcome news of groups, websites, and people in the men's rights movement. Although this issue contains mostly news, we expect to include commentary, personal profiles and other features in future issues. There is also a website under construction.

BREAKING THE PINK BARRIER?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wired News recently announced that the forum on the NOW website will in future be
restricted to those who pay for NOW's ISP. There two schools of thought on this--one,
let the girls go and chat among themselves so they won't be bugging the rest of the
world; and two, maybe it would be better if they were out in the open where we could
keep an eye on them.
Whatever your opinion, the article is here:
http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,42969,00.html
While the statements in this article are not entirely accurate, it is reliably rumored
that our bud, David Byron is the guy who now deserves the title of "800+ Man." Keep an
eye on the NY Post for a possibly more balanced piece!
NEWS FROM SoCal:
MENS (Men Enabling New Solutions)
We are very excited about working together to bringing change. Currently we are working
on persuading the County Supervisors to create a Commission for Men that would address
the issues men and boys face, and we really need your help.
Please take just a moment to write a letter to your County Supervisor
(http://bos.co.la.ca.us/) and suggest that they form a Commission for Men within the
County of L.A. to address the issues faced by men and boys, as they have done with the
Commission for Women. We are testifying before the Board of Supervisors every Tuesday
(come join us!) and every letter they receive helps remind them of our testimony. If
you write one, let me know about it. It helps encourage all of us to know.
I will send you the current petition (with a few dozen supporting doctors, professors,
and other community leaders) if you give me a fax # or address.
YAHOO CLUBS
MomsForDadsRights is growing, and taken on two new founders to assist with admin
details. But they've lost their resident paralegal, Tracey Sisco, who has gone on to
help even more families. They could sure use somebody with legal knowledge to volunteer
a few minutes a day to answer those questions! Yes, only a few minutes--really!
Abused guys
The primary purpose of this club is to provide a place for male victims, of domestic
violence, to post their experiences, hopes, and dreams so others may learn to empower
themselves to move on to an abuse free life. The secondary purpose of this club is to
provide a forum for interested persons to post messages that relate to domestic
violence. Therefore, based on the second purpose, both men and women are invited to join
and participate in posting messages.
Shatterd Men
Abused MEN! The other side of the abuse issue. There is evidence there are more abused
men then women now. All abuse is wrong but men do not have a place to go. Even the
church overlooks this problem. Come here and let us explore this together from a
Biblical point of view. Although the focus will be on men...we will not overlook women!
WEBSITE NEWS
NEW WEBSITE!
http://www.REALdads.org
From Randall Thompson:
As a Father and someone who truly wants to learn more, celebrate and share the beauty of
fatherhood, I am asking for your help. Well, I need stories about being a Dad, about
people's fathers and the like. This website has not been rolled out to the nation yet.
I am a legislative aide with the Michigan House of Representatives and have been blessed
with the contacts to have this site unveiled by the national media on or about Father's
Day of this year (fluff piece at the end of the newscast). I ask that you become part
of something we hope to be truly special!!! Become a member yourself. It's all FREE.
The foundation lives on voluntary donations so there is no catch or business to this.
All non-profit foundation work. Everything begins with "founders".....and we'll take as
many as we can get. Thank you so very much.
I hope you enjoy the site.
Fathers for Life
The web server for Fathers for Life should be back into operation shortly.
A major upgrade is under way for the server. There is no word as to how
long that will take. Let's hope for the best.
ATTENTION THEMESTREAM AUTHORS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Any of you who had work posted on Themestream, please do us a favor and think of
the DesertLight Journal as a forum for your writing. We'll pay you just as much as
T.Stream did--nothing! But we won't argue with you, nor will we keep changing the
payrate ;>) Unless, of course, an angel comes by with a big sack of cash... We will
offer you exposure, and links on our website once it's up and running, not to mention
encouragement as well as alerts when we hear of other places to submit work. You guys
had something to say and we want to give you a place to say it. Let us know!

We leave you this time with the 'Zonie blessing--"May you always have a full tank of
gas and underwear that doesn't ride up!"
